Field Trip Bob Sugar House

This months field trip was to a traditional sugarhouse, where they turn sap from the maple tree to some yummy but expensive maple syrup. Not as great as I would have liked it or educational but it was a good time especially for the kids at McDonald's playplace.

Solar System

This unit was very good and very long, some of the verses I really liked that were referenced are. Genesis 15:5,22:17- We serve a big God a great God. Just look at the size of the universe. Genesis 8:22:Job 38:31-33- God is faithful to everything He says He will do.
Exodus 10:21-23- God has not left the universe to spin on its own, but rather He is concerned and controls the movements. My favorite Is 40:12-14 Jeremiah 31:37-If we trust God and believe Him we will have a greater understanding of the universe than the scientists. Deut 4:19-20 Job 31:26-28- The sun, moon, and stars are not to be worshiped or feared.

Along with a solar system model we did a map and two solar system books from Enchanted Learning, we read a ton of books "Magic School Bus Into the solar system" "Why is Pluto not a Planet" "The Children's Space Atlas" "Magic Tree House Space" and some others. We really wanted to go to the Observatory at UMO but never got there, we will eventually.

Solar System

Packing and moving did slow down our school, but we plunged ahead and finished the solar system unit. Here is the kids putting together the solar system model. It was 6.99 on Amazon next time we will do the Styrofoam model.
