The New Year

So I found two postcards from 1912 on the internet when I Wikipedia resolution or New Years resolution I thought they were interesting.

As I follow the Lord each new year I just can't imagine how my life would have been with out Him. Having resolutions or plans make me laugh, yes laugh following the Lord has been so unpredictable, scary, hair pulling, filled with mercy, love, grace, and honesty. I wouldn't change any of it maybe the reactions I had but nothing else.

Here is a passage from "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young for January 1st:
Come to ME with a teachable spirit eager to be changed. A close walk with ME is a life of continual newness. Do not cling to old ways as you step into a new year. Instead, seek MY Face with an open mind, knowing that your journey with Me involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind. As you focus your thoughts on ME, be aware that I am fully attentive to you. I see you with a steady eye, because My attention span is infinite. I know and understand you completely; My thoughts embrace you in everlasting Love. I also know the plans I have for you plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Give yourself fully to this adventure of increasing attentiveness to My Presence.

This is what I pray for in my life today and as long as I am on this Earth. So I guess this would be my "New Years Resolution." But I know in my own strength I can not do this only in HIM will I be able.

Tis the Season!

"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich." 2 Corinthians 8:9

Our family is so rich with the blessings bestowed on us not just material things but other things like family, friends that are more then friends but family, a good church, beautiful little children that love us in spite of all our faults and so much more.

For the last week we have been doing a Christmas study just reading books from the library and making crafts to go with it. We also sent the boys over to our awesome neighbors with some homemade goodies and cleaned out toys to give away. So I am going to brag a little my little Judah Franky gave up his favorite stuffed animal the one he sleeps with and cries when he is away from. When I asked if he was sure he wanted to give it away he said he didn't need it anymore, even though he used it earlier. Talk about choking back tears, like I said before when I think we are like the Herdmans the family does something awesome.

First field trip of the year: Leonard's Mills

Let me just start by saying the LORD is awesome, this school year has been unlike other school years. I am a little more occupied with other things such as new baby and stuff and less focused on school. Because my focus has been else where I have this ugly thing called guilt permeating through my pores. You know the " Am I really called to do this, Lord?" "Am I messing up my kids?" With that being said let me continue. Well we decided to go to Leonard's Mills in Bradley it was living history days having things from the 1600 to 1700. I thought this will be cool. We just finished the book "Eerth's Birthday" by AVI it's about a porcupine that is a little prickly and not just his coat. Well he becomes the foster parent of three fox cubs, anyway there is a fisher( which I didn't know what that was) I thought fisher man. So we asked Daddy what is a fisher he knew of course it's in the weasel family. So I was trying to get a good pic of it for the boys to see but you know hands on is always better. What do you think they had at Leonard's Mills, a fisher. It was a dead, stuffed one( real one)but the boys were happy to see it. We also have been learning about shepherds and sheep, I looked on Youtube for good shearing demo's and spinning the wool videos but nothing to interested. Well, they had at Leonard's Mills sheep, and two ladies demonstrating spinning. I had no idea they were going to have this stuff there. So I was super excited. It was like God was holding my hand saying " This is what I have called you to do, I am here with you in this." He equips us with the things He has called us to do. So like I said before God is awesome! :)

Sheep and spinning.

Mummys , castles, and more...

Here are some of the crafts we did for chapter 1 and 2. I wrapped the boys up in toilet paper to get the idea how the Egyptians wrapped their dead. Our friend gave us a cut out castle book so we were able to make a quick easy castle. We also did some painting.

First days of a the new school year

We started the school year officially Sept 1st. I was a little apprehensive about starting school at all with having 5 kids under 7, but the Lord is so faithful. So this year we are doing things a little different we start off the day with a New Testament daily devotion right out of the NIV One Year Bible. We are still doing the bible lessons that are in the Weaver Curriculum and also the social studies, science, and creative writing. I love the Weaver Curriculum it gives me many freedoms on books to use activities to do and so on. The first unit we are doing is Royalty, castles, and respect. We read "Queen Esther the Morning Star"by Mordicai Gerstien, a story about Esther in the bible in a nice kid form. The whole unit is about how even though kings, pharaohs and other important people have authority. God is the ultimate authority.

John is in 2nd grade and his work load is a little different this year. His language arts program consist of "Learning Language arts through Literature" (red book), Hooked on Phonics (2nd grade) and possibly "Easy Grammar" 2nd grade. He is also doing Horizons 2nd grade math, and "A Reason for Handwriting" book T. I told JJ he is going to keep practicing "kid" writing but by the end of the year we will try "fancy" adult writing. This is what he calls the two different writing styles. Funny!

Judah is doing this awesome book "Cuisnare Rods Alphabet book." Just love it so hands on for him. He seems to really enjoy it. He also started "Math U See" also really hands on for him. We are going to go through "Us borne book of Childrens Art" and "The Story of the Orchestra : Robert Levine.

Joey and Johannah just go with the flow of things listening to this doing that very low key. We are also doing soccer and flag football through the towns rec department. We may have some bumps in the road but I really enjoy homeschooling and am blessed that I can do it.

Our youngest Robinson boy Joey!

On July 15th 2006 Joseph Robert Robinson was born at PVH right here in Lincoln, Maine. He came in at 8 lbs 12 oz 21 1/2 inches long. He has been a blessing ever since. He keeps us on our toes and equally on our knees. He reminds me of my dad in so many ways even though he never met him they share the same birthday month and name. We love our very handsome and challenging Joe Joe. Happy 4th birthday buddy!

Jeska Ann Robinson is here!

Weighing in at 8 lbs 22 inches we were graced by the presence of Baby Jeska born on June 18th at 3:33 pm in Lincoln, Maine. Here she is a precious gift from the Lord, we are so blessed to have these children. Jeska is a name from the bible it is Haran's daughter, Lot's sister (Ischa) it means God beholds. This is the verse the Lord gave me for her, Isaiah 12:2 "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation."

Baby Peanut( Whosey Lou's) 2nd Birthday!

My first baby girl is going to be two, technically tomorrow but I had to start her blog early. She was born on May 27th at 10:03 am at Kennedy Hospital in New Jersey. She was 7 lbs 14 something ounces so they rounded her up to 15, she was 20 inches long. Her name Johannah means "God is Gracious" and her name is so fitting. The Lord spoke to me regarding having another baby during a very hard time in John and I life. He told me I was going to have another baby and it was going to be a girl, the Lord was going to bless us because of our faithfulness to HIM. I was over whelmed thinking I didn't deserve a new baby especially a little girl that I wanted for so long. But the Lord was FAITHFUL and here she is a precious little thing that looks just like John. (HAHA)
